The Mission Statement of Block Island Housing Initiative is to provide attainable housing for year-round residents, seasonal employees, and others who are essential to Block Island’s quality of life.

They provide grants to convert or construct Accessory Dwelling Units for Affordable/Attainable Housing, and recently institute a Year-round Community Rentals Program which will make up the difference at 80% of the documented average net income from the past two years of seasonal rentals in a unit that transitions from a short-term rental to a year-round rental.
